A DEEP DIVE INTO AIA VITALITY

Insurer AIA (Sovereign) has recently released a new wellness programme that has got the team at NZ Advice Group excited. It’s called AIA Vitality and it’s the first programme of its kind in New Zealand. In today’s blog, we’re going to deep dive into the package by looking at how it works, what it costs and covering off frequently asked questions so you’re in the know.

What is AIA Vitality?

AIA Vitality is a wellness programme that supports and rewards you for making healthy lifestyle choices. AIA Vitality is still a policy so you pay a monthly premium, but by making healthy choices, the rewards can far outweigh the low monthly cost.

What does it cost?

The cost to be a part of the AIA vitality programme is $11.50 a month for current health, trauma, income protection or life insurance policy holders. Its free for the first 12 months if you sign up before November 5th 2019.

Can I join AIA Vitality without holding a policy?

No, this is a programme for existing or new policy holders.

How does AIA Vitality work?

AIA Vitality works by rewarding you with vitality points as you learn about and improve your health in terms of nutrition, exercise and mental wellbeing. When you first start out as a Vitality member, you’ll be classified as bronze status. As you get healthier and earn more points, you’ll move on to Silver, Gold and finally to Platinum status. The higher your status, the greater the rewards.

How do I earn vitality points?

There are several ways in which you can earn points. These include dentist visits, regular health checks, tracking steps through a fitness tracker and setting fitness goals and achieving them. Your points are recorded in your AIA Vitality dashboard and you are rewarded accordingly.

To benefit the most from AIA Vitality you’ll need a wearable fitness tracker. There are lots of options available including Fitbit and Garmin or your IPhone.

What kind of rewards can I expect?

One of the great things about AIA Vitality is the generosity of the reward points! Firstly your Vitality rewards points can be put toward reducing your insurance premiums. By sticking to healthy lifestyle choices, you will save 10% on your existing insurance premiums in the first year and have the opportunity to save a total of 20% off your premiums.

Your reward points can also be used for fantastic discounts with AIA partners including 25% off Fitbit and Garmins, 75% off Mission nutrition consults and 25% off mole maps as well as discounts and Hoyts, Forme Spa and plenty more.

You can also swap your rewards points for Airpoints and earn up to 300 Airpoints annually.

AIA Vitality also rewards you with Active benefits. Simply by reaching your personalised physical activity target each week, you’ll get the choice between:

5 Airpoints Dollars™

5 New World Dollars loaded onto your New World Clubcard

A $5 HOYTS, Harvey Norman or iTunes voucher

A $5 donation to the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand or the Heart Foundation
